Good Morning from Maine! #Gratitude to all!
Today's Best You Daily Inspiration and Journal Prompt is about trusting yourself and self-confidence and finding motivation.
Best You Daily will help guide you and your lifestyle to be the very best they can be. Following a few of my thoughts you'll find a journal prompt closer to the end of this blog. I hope you'll follow with me, as each day, I intend to give us all something to think about and/or write about through Best You Daily. We’re here to talk about your best life in 2017 and beyond. We’re here to learn to make some lasting changes in our lives.
In order to stay with a commitment to change with consistency, focus, behavior and discipline we must clarify our motivation! Let’s face it… it is sooooo-oooo easy to get off track. It’s easy to get distracted. It’s easy to make a mental note and forget where you wrote it and for a lot of us there is a little inner voice that can talk us into stuff and out of stuff or tell us we’ll start tomorrow or the next day. It can be hard to say you are going to really do something, commit to it with the best of intentions and then start, stop, start again, stop again and it fizzles out.
Welcome to the Feeling Guilty Failure Land – the land of feeling blah and like no matter how hard to you try it just fizzles out or the vision and drive to do something just fade and you soon become the hamster back on the wheel. Sometimes this is where we talk a great game in our head, but we don't work that hard or take the consistent action and work needed to really achieve the results we're dreaming about. Let me introduce to these words to live by: Motivation, Consistency and Discipline. One must have consistency and discipline and they come from motivation! I often ask clients to sit in silence for a reason. It's so you can sort out what is most important to you. In order to be consistent and disciplined keep the focus of WHY you want the change front and center in your thinking. Focus and attention will lead you to success. Its all about how much you REALLY CARE about yourself. It's about self-love and self-worth and your values. It's not about the event you need to get ready for. It's about backing it all up so you care for yourself consistently at the "get ready for the event" level. It's hard to maintain! So, I am asking you to make a commitment. What is your commitment to yourself? What is your key motivation? Why do you deserve to have a better life by making this change? Just saying “I will take 10 minutes of silence per day or drink more water” is not enough. I am asking you to have a conversation with yourself. Pick the logisitics and have a conversation with yourself about how important this small change is to you. This will provide you with the footwork to make bigger changes in your life as they appear. But without a clear motivating vision, commitment to consistency and discipline, you will most likely find yourself scattered in 100 different directions, off on tangents, loss of focus and back on the wheel.
