Featuring You - Meet Steph Van De Ven


Tell us about yourself.

I am The Mindful Mama - a Mom, Published Author of The Birdy Book Series, and Certified Mindful & Meditation Teacher. I am currently training to become a yoga teacher too.


How did you get to be where you are today?

I was fired! I didn't know where to go, I didn't know what to do. Truthfully - my pet canary and the I Can Do It Events from Hay House in Toronto changed my life!


Have you ever been fired? See above! LOL


What are your real passions? Writing, horses, sour cream and onion chips, meditation, yoga, mindfulness. I am a children's book author, passionate about helping, encouraging, teaching and developing a powerful positive mindset for kids and their adults.





Tell us about The Birdy Book Series:

The Birdy Book's number-one goal is to help, encourage, teach, and develop a powerful positive mindset for kids and their adults. Birdy, the main character, believes in angels, love, kindness, and staying positive! Inside this book, you'll find reflection sections after each of Birdy's adventures, to help you think about how to change your thoughts from negative to positive and stay that way. Steph's book has been awarded the Elizabeth's Best Award for Excellence.



Learning how to change your negative thought patterns by choosing positive affirmations can change the way you look at everything. The Birdy Book is a compilation of melodic and positively powerful poems focusing on love, joy, courage, kindness, and happiness, with gentle guidance, as well as thought suggestions.

This bright and happy book is designed to be a positive, uplifting experience each time you read it, and the only thing you need to do is practice, read, and repeat!



If you won the lottery, what would you do? I would travel the world with my family, teach meditation,yoga, mindfulness and write, write, write and teach, heal and inspire!


What do you do to help others be their best? Teach, inspire, open up minds, help people deal with stress and anxiety using mindfulness and meditation, and I travel to schools with my pet bird - "Birdy", who is the main character of my book and teach I AM affirmations, positive lessons, kindness, and mindfulness!


How do you help yourself be the best you can be? I take yoga and meditation like medication! Need it to live! I practice self-care, mindful breathing, yoga, meditation and I write & journal daily.

What do you like to do in your personal life?  Spend time with family, yoga, meditation, hiking and walking in nature with my boyfriend. What do you hope to accomplish in the future? Continue to publish my books - have another one for Mamas on Mindfulness. :) Speak on stage, inspire hundreds and thousands. Keep going to schools and inspiring students with my kids book. Help and heal people through mindfulness and meditation - and in the future, when I"m fully certified - yoga!

What is a book or two that you recommend? You are a Bad Ass - Jen Sincero, & Sacred Spirit by Davidji. I also love the Yoga Sutras by Patanajli. I adore the Prophet by Kahlil Gibran and anything by Gabby Bernstein or my beloved Dr.Wayne Dyer!

Why do you do what you do? Because it is my calling. There is nothing else!

What are a few of your goals?  Publish more books, speak on stage about mindfulness and meditation, inspire and heal.

What do the words "Best Ever You" mean to you?   Being better than I am, every single day, than the day before with conscious mindful effort and action.
